There are different types of water softener salt available in the UK, some of which can be used in water softeners and others that shouldn’t and that can affect the efficiency and reliability of your water softener and invalidate your Warranty. We aim to make it easy to understand why Harvey Block and Mini Curve Water Softener Salt is the best option for your Water Softener.
Water softener salt should be 'Food Grade' salt which is a crystalline product consisting predominantly of sodium chloride. Most food-grade salt is heated and evaporated to crystallise the salt. After this, Water softener salt is then graded into two categories:
Grade A quality salt is either PDV (Pure Dried Vacuum from Natural Brine Solution) or Mined from underground rock salt deposits. This is the best salt for water softeners and will prolong your machine's life. Harvey Water Softeners only uses Grade A PDV (Food-Grade) quality Water Softener Salt giving you complete peace of mind and protection for your softener, warranty and home.
Grade B quality is either obtained from the sea (Marine) or is PDV (Pure Dried Vacuum from Marine salt). The purity of Grade B salt is questionable as it comes from seawater which is directed into large outdoor ponds. Using just the sun, wind and time, the water evaporates, and salt crystals are left behind. The salt is then washed and processed into block forms. Marine salt contains impurities, making the salt darker as it dissolves, resulting in a scum forming inside your machine. While this salt is readily available and is cheaper, you may find it will invalidate your manufacturer's warranty and can reduce the machine's life and almost certainly will increase maintenance costs and frequency.
Remember, when you buy Water Softener salt from Harvey Water Softeners you're also getting the following:
When you buy water softener salt from us, you’re getting the best. We only sell Grade A quality salt because we know how important it is to keep your water softener working perfectly. Cheaper, lower-quality salts may not work as well and can cause problems with your water softener. Our salt is pure, clean, and safe – exactly what your water softener needs to do its job properly.
Using our high-grade salt helps keep your water softener running smoothly for longer. Poorer-quality salts can have dirt or other bits in them, which can clog up your system and even cause it to break. Our salt dissolves better, preventing damage to your water softener, so you don’t have to worry about expensive repairs.
Hard water can cause problems like leaving limescale in your kettle or making your skin feel dry after a bath. Our top-quality water softener salt fights hard water, giving you cleaner water for your home. You’ll notice softer clothes after washing, cleaner dishes, and even softer skin after a shower.
Even though cheaper salt may seem like a good deal, it doesn’t last as long and can cause problems that cost more to fix. Our Grade A salt lasts longer and works better, so you won’t have to buy as much or deal with repairs. In the long run, our salt saves you time and money.
By choosing our Grade A water softener salt, you’re choosing better performance, longer-lasting equipment, and a cleaner home. Don’t risk the problems that come with poor-quality alternatives. Trust us to give you the best for your water softener – and your home.
